SUMMER EVENTS
We are so excited for our Summer 2022 season! The Society puts on multiple children's and family events during the summer including our weekly Maritime Mondays, which occur from 10-12. We have scheduled eight Maritime Mondays between July 4th and August 22nd! With rotating themes the kids will love the crafts and activities every week. We are also planning our Pirate Day for July 30 and will be hosting the Bull Head Derby with the Lions Club. We hope to see you there!

Pirate Day
July 30, 2022
Our Pirate Day event In July is a fun family event where we will have games, crafts, food, music, and prizes as well as introducing our maritime history. Families are invited to drop in to experience the buccaneer fun we have in store! Come on down a keep your eyes peeled for a pirate running around!

Derby Day

The Lions Club is partnering again with The Maritime Discovery Centre for their annual Bullhead Derby! Fishing is for children 12 and under; they must be accompanied by an adult and must be wearing life jackets. Free on-site registration. Details will be on the Alberni Valley Lions and Port Alberni Maritime Heritage Centre websites and Facebook sites. There will be other run activities like crafts, games, and activities. Registration will begin at 9:00AM and fishing will take place until 11:30AM
Prizes in the past have included:
~prizes and trophies for largest and second largest bullhead (Winners get the perpetual trophy for one year plus a keeper trophy for life.)
~A prize for the smallest bullhead
~prizes for a variety of categories (weirdest fish etc.)
~Including a large number of draw prizes
