1999,The Summer of the Boats: The Migrant Ships" with Don Grant, former Senior Planning Officer, Canada Immigration, BC-Yukon Region. What was the fate of the 599 Chinese migrants and of the four ships purchased by the Alberni Reef Society? Bring your stories and photos to share.

September 27 at the Maritime Heritage Gallery, 7 p.m.

CCGS Vector and ProScience On October 18th 2018 and open the ship to students in the morning and to the public in the late afternoon. The CCSG Vector is one of Canada’s marine research ship, whose home port is the Institute of Ocean Sciences, Pat Bay. There objective is to engage youth and the public in the “ever changing” undersea world and careers in marine science and technology. They will be docked by the lighthouse.

"The Canadian Princess Steamships" Robert Turner, Curator Emeritus, of the Royal BC Museum will be coming to Port Alberni for the joint Heritage Night between the Maritime Heritage Society and the Alberni District Historical Society. October 18, in the Dogwood Room, Echo Centre, 7 p.m.

Derby Day 2018 This year for our Derby Day, PAMHS partnered with the Port Alberni Lions Club. There were 280 people who joined us for the event with around 150 kids participating. . The Lions had prepared over 75 prizes that were for divided into three random draws and for those who had won the fishing categories. There were also hot dogs and water on sale by the Lions Club, and they had music going through their speaker system.

Halloween 2018 This year we are hoping to host a Halloween event. It will be Sunday, October 21. From 3-5 there will be pumpkin carving activities and from 5-7 there will be a Halloween Maze in our compound. There will be a slight cost for the event:: $3.00 for one activity or $5.00 for both.
